CONVERSATION AND OPINION
"I think part of the thing with the shadowsquatch and stumpquatch is that there are those who want to be an 'expert'. Those photos give them the chance to pretend to be great investigators and debunkers. They get to show off their knowledge. They can pretend to be Matt Moneymaker and Cliff Barackman. Or Bigfoot Tony or ThinkerThunker."
"When you hand them something that is clear and real, oftentimes they have nothing to say because they know that they can't pick it apart; they can't show off their knowledge. Except for the few who will then say 'Hoax', or 'Costume' or 'Mask'."
"I think that's also why videos like the recent 'Canadian Trapper' are accepted and discussed and treated as the 'real deal'. Because they know there is a problem or problems with it, but they can expound all they want and continue to pretend they are good at analyzing things."
"Of course, there are also those who just want to be scared because they are looking for monsters and many of those videos out there show them 'monsters'. And so those mostly faked videos become some of the top watched and believed in on the internet."
[The above are quotes from me during a recent conversation]
First of all, this in no way is my opinion of all of those in this "business", so to speak. But also know that those who are involved in the research and discovery of these magnificent beings are in no way "experts". And I include myself in that. There are no experts, there are no professionals. Not even those who organize expeditions into the wilds and charge you for the privilege of going with them with the guarantee that you will see a sasquatch. There are no guarantees. Just like there are no experts. We are all learning. We have opinions. We have theories. We have beliefs. And, if we're lucky, we have open minds that allow us to explore all the possibilities, listen to all that people have to say, and that we can listen to the opinions that others have on our research. And that we will recognize the ones who come along who try to undermine all that we have accomplished so far; the "trolls" that roam the internet and facebook and insult and threaten just to stir up trouble; and that we ignore them and remove them from our groups and our pages and our blogs and our lives; for they serve no purpose other than to strengthen our resolves to continue to learn and share and teach to and with those who truly want to believe.

"I'll spark the thought; what you do with it is up to you."
In many of the related forums I belong to and follow I consistently see reports by members who have or live on property where they claim there is persistent activity by one or more of these creatures. This activity occurs on a regular basis and is frequently stated to be long standing and varies in intensity from distant howels to contact with personal property or animals. My question to all is why doesn't any individual or group follow up on these posts to attempt to verify or debunk the reports and research the topic in a academic manner to obtain useful information on the subject if is factual rather than continue to randomly wander the planet.
ReplyDeleteIn some cases, when others are brought in, the sasquatch will not come. If they do not trust or do not like someone, they will not interact with those people. There is also the matter of trust when others are brought in. It is difficult to know just what their intentions might be. There is also the matter of privacy. People do not want their property overrun by every "researcher" from the 50 states and the Canadian provinces. And there is also the stigma of having your belief in sasquatch made public. There are still those who will condemn you for it; jobs lost, etc. Last, but not least, is the amount of abuse given to those who share their experiences and encounters. Give them real proof, real evidence, real photos, real videos of sasquatch and all hell breaks loose. It takes a strong personality to withstand the screams of "HOAX", "MASK", "COSTUME" and much more.
ReplyDeletePlease keep them coming for those of us that do believe. God bless you and Bigfoot.
