It was the middle of the day when the witness was surprised by a sasquatch while relaxing at Paine Falls Metro Park in Lake County back in July 1981.There were only two other cars parked there when she pulled in that bright sunny day. She advanced to the picnic table and took a seat up on top to relax. The witness was there for only a minute when she no longer felt alone. Hit with the urge to turn around, she did so, only to find a large hair-covered creature staring at her from only 6 feet away.
The witness could only see it from the waist up, as it stood on the switchback path that had a 4 foot drop at that point. When she saw it, she turned facing forward again in shock. Then she turned back to confirm what she saw.

She noticed the eyes were a gold/yellow color and seemed almost luminous. The face was flat with hair on the cheeks. The skin appeared to be a light brown. The hair was a medium length and was brown. She estimated it as standing between 8 and 9 feet tall and it was "very bulky".
That was when a bus full of disabled teens and their aides arrived and they started unloading and heading for the path that led to the creek and falls. The witness tried to speak and warn them about going down the path but she was unable to make a sound.

Once the teens got down the path, the witness was able to move. She ran the 100 yards to her car, jumped in, and has never returned to the location.
It seems interesting that none of the busload seemed to notice the creature behind her. One can only suggest that when the bustle of unloading and getting organized started, it made a classic sasquatch "get away" and disappeared from view.
The park area is in a remote location and is heavily wooded. It features a large waterfall area and a broad creek (river).
"I'll spark the thought; what you do with it is up to you."
