KNOWING IT ALL

" . . . I meet people who think that they have everything figured out, on the basis of what has gone on in that one area.[one location and the sightings there]. It is an understandable attitude, but experience suggests that the more they learn the sooner they will end up with problems and doubts like the rest of us." -- John Green

We only know what we have seen with our own eyes, heard with our own ears; what we have felt, read, been told. That is all we can know. We cannot know what another has experienced. We can know what they tell us. We can know what they show us. And what we know is built on the faith we have in the one telling us of their experience. I know I am a lucky one. I have found a partner that I can trust. That's something rare in this arena.

I have found that with every question I have, there are multiple answers. With every "fact" I learn, I find more questions. I know more today than I knew a year ago. But yet, I still know next to nothing.

I do know that it is even more important to keep an open mind now than it was before. To clutch one theory tightly, never letting go, discarding any and all evidence that contradicts it, will doom you to never learning a thing. A closed mind is a lost mind, a dead mind. A mind doomed to failure, doomed to never discover exciting new things, to never participate in new discoveries.
